“On our side, he is also called Kidnap Leslie... Leslie the Kidnapper. In forests and wastelands, his home suddenly appears. You must never approach. Those invited in... never return.”

Wezel, volume 14+

Ainrand Leslie (アインランド・レスリー, Ainrando Resurī) is a mysterious entity said to have been an entrepreneur with unusual items. Many rumors revolve around Lesley and very little is known about him, some people even doubting his existence.

Something is known by all, however, is that he is the owner of the infamous and elusive Leslie Camp (レスリーキャンプ, Resurī kyanpu).

According to Wezel for those on the alliance of kings side, he is one of the Five Princes a group of undeads who were the No-Life King closest associates and is one the Princes whose whereabouts are unknown. People from the former alliance of kings call him Leslie the kidnapper.

People working for Leslie seems to call him Sir Unchained, but it's currently unknown what he is unchained from.

More importantly, Leslie is the one behind the volunteer soldiers amnesia, using a drug made from a relic to erase their memory, and likely also take everything too modern they could have on them.

Appearance[]

According to Shinohara Leslie overall appearance make him look like a drown corpse, save for his long curly hair and bear which are brimming with life for some reasons. Leslie is a tall (close to 2 meters), thin man with oddly thin shoulders that have an extreme slope to them. His face is difficult to see because of his long beard but he does look vaguely human.

However, his eyes are 2 black, glass eyes looking objects (likely relics) and his legs are described to be without a shred of flexibility, looking like sticks when he walks.

For clothing, he wears a dark cloak which hue is are to place as red, blue, or green. On his head is a towering, wide-brimmed hat which makes him appear even taller than he already is.

Shinohara notes if Leslie didn't cast a shadow, he would think that he is a ghost. As he doesn't make any noises (not even clothes rustling noises), his upper body barely moves despite his stiff legs, and overall Leslie doesn't display any signs of being alive.

Personality[]

Leslie doesn't show much emotion, most of the time is demeanor is calm and posed but he does laugh from time to time.

One of his main characteristics is his lack of empathy, which can be shown by how he carries acts like large-scale memory-erasing, kidnapping, and manipulation seemingly without thinking much of them. He doesn't seem to think of his actions as evil and even among his servants, a lot of the people consider him a monster. However, despite being thought of as a monster, he does seem to treat his servants well. As shown by his interaction with Shinohara where he insisted to have his opinion on multiple subjects and reiterate that good service well will be rewarded once the No-Life King is back.

Leading to what seems to be Leslie's biggest personality trait: Loyalty as the end goal of all that he is doing seems to be to prepare for his master's return (the No-Life King) despite him having been gone for more than a century.

Plot[]

Level. 7 The Rainbow on the Other Side[]

He was first mentioned in one of the bonus side stories for volume 7: "Recollections of a Certain Nameless Volunteer Soldier".

In that story, the narrator, named Anonymous, is being strongly questioned by Lala and Nono for having sold them an unreliable lead on the position of the Leslie Camp.

Anonymous also says that he sold another lead to another team of volunteer soldier besides Lala and Nono, it's possible that he is speaking of Team Io.

Level. 13 Heart, Open, A New Door[]

Team Haruhiro and Kejiman stumble upon the Leslie Camp while on their escort mission, and from what Merry says at that time, it's likely that one of the people resurrected before her know Leslie.

Once in the tent of the camp, they hear Hiyomu's voice welcoming them inside and declaring herself as Leslie's disciple, but at that time the team doesn't recognize her voice.

From Kejiman ecstatic comments once inside the tent it appears like a lot of the rumors circulating on Leslie and his camp are true.

Moreover, the whole camp seems to be a relic and contains a number of other relics and a door to Parano.

Level. 14 Parano-mania[]

He isn't named but as Hiyomu calls him master, the man appearing in the last chapter of Parano-mania likely is Leslie.

He "captures" team Haruhiro, team Io, Alice, and Reon, he chose to release most of them after erasing their memories in a situation similar to the beginning of the series but keeps Alice and Reon for other uses.

Level. 15 A Fleeting New Game Plus[]

Level. 16 Without Even Knowing the Reason for Our Good-bye[]

Abilities[]

As one of the Five Princes, he should have the ability to create undead, something only the princes and the No-Life King can do.

He is known to possess a wide array of relics, which we know for sure include:

  • A memory-erasing-drug making relic which he uses to erase volunteer soldiers' memories.
  • A keyring of nine keys which seems to work as one-time use universal keys which once use turn into black mist.
  • The whole Leslie Camp also seems to be one big relic or at least under the effect of one as the space inside is impossibly vast and it's impossible to go back by the door used to enter it.
  • Two black, glass eyes looking object that he has instead of eyes.
  • A white staff made out of bones, probably a relic. It's unclear if the bones come from animals, humans, or a mixture of both.
  • If the Legends are to be trusted, a ring which can call tempest.
  • A spiral staircase which goes through an area of "nothingness", Shinohara describing it as "an open space that was neither bright nor dark. With nothing resembling walls. Just the spiral staircase.". It's unclear what the purpose or function of that relic is be considering that that staircase leads to what seems to be Leslie's personal "chamber", so it could be a security measure.

Of all the characters who have appeared so far in the story he seems to be the most knowledgeable on the subject of other worlds as shown by the fact that he is managing and may have created the passage to Parano, and that he is promising to his servant to send them back to their world if they serve him.

Finally, it seems like Leslie could have the ability to modify other people:

  • Alice says that working for him is making them a monster, although they could be talking of their state of mind
  • Shihoru also appears to be way more proficient at using Dark after being captured and becoming one of Leslie's servant.
  • Shinohara seems to hint at the fact that Hiyomu was created by Leslie.

Relationship[]

Hiyomu[]

Leslie seems to trust Hiyomu as she acts as his ambassador with Alterna, was entrusted at least one relic: "the paw of terror" (named by Hiyomu), is in charge of administrating the memory-erasing drug, and can recruit new servant for Leslie.

Base on what Shinohara says, Leslie may have created her.

Shinohara[]

He acts as Leslie mole within the volunteer soldier corps, reporting on their status and manipulating them to some extent.

Leslie apparently saved Shinohara some time ago and he has been working for him since then. However, Shinohara doesn't trust him and thinking of him as "the monster". On the other side, Leslie does seems to trust Shinohara to some extent as he insisted on getting his advice.

It's possible that Shinohara's sword, "Beheader", was given to him by Leslie similarly to Hiyomu's "Paw of Terror"

Merry[]

Since she kept most of her memories despite having been administer the memory-erasing drug, Leslie consider Merry to be an irregularity and has asked Shinohara to keep an eyes on her.

While Leslie didn't know Merry before she showed herself to be an irregularity, Merry or more likely some of the memories inside her do seem to know Leslie.

Jin Mogis[]

Jin Mogis seems to have entered in a partnership as Hiyomu is now working for the general.

While Jin's opinion of Leslie is unknown, it seems like, for his part, Lessie doesn't think much of the general, being more interested in the volunteer soldier corps.

Alice[]

Leslie kidnap them when they exited Parano through the Door to Heaven, after erasing their memory, he made Alice one of his servant. It's unknown if Leslie randomly chose Alice or if he saw something in them.

While we don't know Leslie's opinion of Alice, we do know that Alice considers him to be a monster that will turn you into a monster if you obey him (something which has apparently already half happen to them). Despite that, Alice obeys Leslie and act as his servant, probably in the hope of being granted the right to go back to their world like the other follower of Leslie.

Shihoru[]

Leslie, staying true to his moniker, kidnapped Shihoru before erasing her memory, he then may have done something to her as when she comes back to her sense her control over Dark is better than ever. The fact that Leslie was so proactive in obtaining and turning her into one of his servants shows that he probably see her as important or useful to his plan.

Shihoru seems loyal to Leslie and is in part acting as his servant in the hope of getting back to her world.

The No-Life King[]

While we don't know the detail of their relationship, it's likely that the No-Life King was the one who made Leslie one of the Five Princes, and that he was one of his most trusted retainers. A loyalty still upholds by Leslie who considers him to be the only legitimate king there is and is acting to prepare for his return.

Quotes[]

  • "Alright then; I will show you how to use the ring. The price for it, however, will be your new wife."

Trivia[]

  • The name may be a reference to writer Ayn Rand.
  • There's a group calling themselves Lesliemaniacs which are looking for any clue to get to the camp.
